The Core of Conspirituality
Neither wing or party in the American political system is especially aligned with Truth, so Conspirituality, which is the fearless pursuit of truth in all aspects of life, is neither left nor right
(Ed Note: This column is one I wrote up as a “note” on Facebook in early 2013 and is included here largely because there are some today who are writing and speaking about “conspirituality” in a maligning and derogatory way, attempting to link conspirituality to Q-Anon and the right-wing of U.S. politics. These connotations were not part of the original formulation of the term as it first appeared in the academic press and I claim the right to speak and write about conspirituality as a politically neutral belief system (actually aligned with truths on both sides and opposed to mis-truths and harmful ideologies on both sides of the U.S. political aisle) and I consider conflating conspirituality with the right-wing and Q-anon to be hate speech fomenting a false stereotype of people who hold conspiritualist views in a manner that violates the spirit, if not the letter, of first amendment provisions for freedom of religious belief and expression and freedom from religious persecution. Aside from this paragraph, I have only added the subtitle above. — M.B. May 12, 2022)
Academic sources discussing "Conspirituality" are generally dismissive and critical, adopting an unawakened perspective on the whole phenomenon. They do rightly point out that conspirituality is the combination of two key pieces: (1) Conspiracy analysis and (2) New age philosophy/religion, yet they fail to see the deeper connections between these two elements and offer only superficial explanation as to why these two intellectual movements come together and complete each other as perfectly as a yin-yang symbol. They also fail to exercise discernment in presenting each half in its purest form, leaving easily ridiculed "straw men" in both parts for later "debunking".
The underlying drive behind both intellectual movements is a fearless quest for truth in all aspects of life. The essential truth of the so-called "new age" movement is that we are all immortal spirits, as can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt by anyone willing to study Near Death Experiences (IANDS), Reincarnation (Dr. Ian Stevenson) and certain results of quantum physics that reveal the primacy of consciousness over matter. The gift of these insights is fearlessness (love-ful-ness), compassion and courage that gives the individual the necessary strength and wisdom to address the real and serious problems in today's world from a level of thinking that is higher than the level that gave rise to these problems.
Much of the denial of the existence of key conspiracies stems from fear-- fear of worldview change, fear of ridicule, fear of career damage, fear of social ostracization, and even fear of death at the hands of conspirators. All of these fears make the field of conspiracy analysis a daunting pursuit to say the least.
Nonetheless, the aforementioned spiritual insights make it possible for the individual to transcend these fears and see the truths behind many of today's biggest problems from assassinations to toxins in our air, water, food and medicines to covert control of governments by elite interests, to corruption in international banking (confessions of an economic hit man and much more).
As always, the first step to solving problems is recognizing their existence. Spiritual insights give us the courage to get past the denial response in evaluating actual conspiracies and begin to formulate appropriate action from educating others to political and economic action. That's why conspirituality is important. That's why we need to run with it as quickly as we can go. That's why the powers that be will try to suppress it every way they can think of. But these are ideas whose time has come and they cannot be stopped any longer.

Martin Bishop shared a memory.
In the intervening 5 years, I've distilled this down to:
"Conspirituality is the fearless, relentless, passionate and discliplined pursuit of truth in all aspects of life coupled with a shared commitment to live our learned truths and assist others in doing the same."

Those who study conspirituality from the outside remain somewhat baffled as to why people are connecting so-called conspiracy theories and new age spirituality. It seems perfectly natural and logical from the inside. Conspiritualists share a relentless pursuit of truth in all aspects of life and a tenacious grip on it once we find it. We collect truths, like pieces of a puzzle and assemble a big picture. In the biggest picture, we are unlocking our most brilliantly intense lights of hidden human potential and shining them into the darkest reaches of human failings to expose and conquer evil and to prepare for a new way of living on the Earth in peace, freedom and love. Does that make sense now?

Conspirituality includes the transcendent attitude of self-realization and self-empowerment from conventional spirituality, but smashes all those cloying escapist tendencies to deny or minimize and make-okay the very real challenges this world presents to awake people-- corruption, toxicity, evil, greed, murders and so on. We might not make it to the promised land ourselves, but we stand in our power and refuse to cooperate with injustice and evil. We face our fears and a few even pay the ultimate price, not unlike some of the celebrated martyred saints in the Catholic tradition. But, whether we win or lose, we know this is the right thing to do.

Conspirituality -- A philosophy and practice of pursuing hidden and suppressed truths including a combination of both dark conspiracies and light spiritual truths so that the strength and liberation of deeper spiritual knowledge allows one to face the darker conspiratorial truths with less fear and depression and with greater ability to address the roots of the problems.
